INSTALLATION is actually pretty simple. Note the position of the hose fitting on the existing regulator. You will want to have the fitting on the new regulator pointing the same direction. Disconnect the existing regulator (slide back the retaining collar, then pull, or pry, the hose from the fitting). You will damage the existing hose! A new one has been provided. It is a tight fit going back on, but it will fit. Before installing the new regulator, be sure that the port and threads are clear of any residue from the original installation.
Install the "Rock" with a 7/16" open end wrench. Tighten securely making certain the hose fitting is in the proper position. Use care is tightening the new unit into place excess force is not necessary. Reinstall the air line to the new regulator and the job is complete. We dubbed this regulator "Rock" because it is "Steady like a rock", and it should seldom need adjustment under normal operating conditions. Lubrication is required.
ADJUSTING the "Rock" to the best pressure setting for your gun is easy. You will use the same Allen wrench used to adjust the velocity. Turn the Allen screw clockwise to increase operating pressure, and counter clockwise to decrease pressure. Increase pressure slowly until the gun begins to cycle fully (lowest operating pressure). Then increase the pressure by 1/4 to 1/2 turn on the adjuster. This should get you into, or real close, to your gun's operational SWEET SPOT. Find that SWEET SPOT and leave it there. You may find that you will never have to adjust the pressure regulator again. The less that you adjust any regulator, the less that you will have to adjust it for optimum performance. The same setup procedure should be used for either unregulated CO2 or regulated HPA systems. Lubrication is required for paintgun pneumatics and regulators.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Initial setup should be done with a stable air supply (i.e. a freshly filled, frosty cold CO2 bottle should be allowed to come up to air temperature before use, as unacceptable pressure conditions may result)
A Pressure Relief system is incorporated into the "Rock" to protect the other components and pressure lines of the automation system. The pressure relief will activate whenever a TOO-HIGH pressure condition exists in the system (approximately 250 psi). The pressure relief valve opening allows gas/air to vent out through the hole next to the adjusting screw of the regulator, until it is adjusted properly, or the CO2 supply is removed. The pressure relief system will re-set when the pressure is lowered to proper levels. The MicroRock does not have a pressure relief valve and should only be used on paintguns with a regulated pressure air supply.
